About Dr primero ng
Dr Primero Ng
Dr Primero Ng, MBBS (Hons), FRACP, FACC, FSCAI is an Interventional Cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in complex coronary intervention, chronic total occlusion PCI, and advanced coronary imaging and physiology. His practice focuses on the assessment and treatment of complex coronary artery disease, particularly for patients with long-standing blockages, heavily calcified arteries, multivessel disease, or situations where treatment decisions are not straightforward. He combines contemporary evidence, advanced imaging, and careful procedural planning to deliver coronary care that is precise, considered, and tailored to each patient.
He graduated with honours from the University of Western Australia and completed specialist cardiology training across major tertiary hospitals in Perth. He then undertook advanced coronary training at Royal Perth Hospital, developing a strong foundation in intravascular imaging and coronary physiology. These techniques, including intravascular ultrasound, optical coherence tomography, and pressure-wire assessment, are routinely used in his practice to guide decision-making, improve procedural precision, and support durable long-term outcomes.
Dr Ng was later selected as the only overseas fellow to train at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, one of the world’s leading centres for complex coronary intervention and chronic total occlusion PCI. There, he completed a formal Complex and High-Risk Indicated PCI (CHIP) fellowship under the mentorship of internationally recognised leaders in the field, including Dr Bill Lombardi, Dr Kate Kearney, and Dr Lorenzo Azzalini. This training strengthened not only his technical procedural skills, but also his approach to clinical judgement, team culture, leadership, and patient safety.
He is one of the few interventional cardiologists in Australia to combine formal international CHIP fellowship training with fellowship recognition from both the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the American College of Cardiology. In 2026, Dr Ng was named one of SCAI’s 30 in Their 30s, an international award recognising emerging leaders in interventional cardiology.
Dr Ng’s clinical expertise includes chronic total occlusions, heavily calcified arteries, multivessel and left main coronary disease, and complex revascularisation for patients who may have limited treatment options. His approach is careful, data-driven, imaging-guided, and tailored to each patient’s anatomy, symptoms, overall risk, and personal goals.
Dr Ng consults in private practice at The Mount Hospital and in Mandurah, while also holding a public appointment as an Interventional Cardiologist at Royal Perth Hospital. At RPH, he is Co-Lead of the Complex Coronary Therapeutics Program, where he helps advance complex coronary care, develop structured referral and treatment pathways, and improve access to contemporary interventional techniques for patients across Western Australia. He also reports Cardiac CT studies for Western Radiology, supporting an integrated, imaging-led approach to diagnosis and treatment planning.
With a strong focus on quality of life, Dr Ng believes that successful cardiology care is not only about treating arteries, but about helping patients understand their condition, make informed decisions, and return to living well. Through specialised training, collaborative practice, and thoughtful decision-making, he is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based coronary care across Western Australia, particularly when treatment decisions are complex.
